I know you feel it. It’s just about that time; spring. The icy winds are calming down, well in “most” regions of the country, and the lush greenery is starting to grow. With changes of the seasons there comes changes in our garment expression, in particular, our footwear. Gone will be the leather, embossed, high heeled and rustic boots. (Well for the most part.) It’s time to break out the sandals, flats, d’orsay pumps, wedges and more! Am I making you excited yet? If so, I’m glad. If not, keep reading. 😉
This spring there are lots of new trends and revamped classic styles perfect to don on a spring day in the city. For instance Alexander Wang (which I scour eBay for on the low) is still going for striking minimalist details with this seasons patent leather, flat, strappy sandals. From afar they may look simple, but the couture details are in the leather, the architectural dual ankle straps and the unique colors. Del Toro and jewelry designer Edie Parker teamed up for a snazzy, emoticon inspired loafer line that subtly pokes fun at our digital slang culture. Each shoe literally features a different embroidered emoji on that lush, colorful velvet. Now that’s a perfect way to add a little “pep in your step!”
Also the tried and true “jelly” is back with a stylish vengeance, promising to give you better fashionable adventures than you had in the seventh grade. This year they’re arriving in muted yet striking colors, with stacked heels, thicker straps, studs, bows and cool dangling accessories. Try out Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Salvatore Ferragmo, Sophia Webster, Ted Baker, Cole Haan and Melissa for a variety of styles, colors and prices.
So once you buy the shoes (or unearth them from your closet), for those who are just venturing bravely into the world of fashion, this new wardrobe article can seem a bit daunting. Have no fear try incorporating new pieces, particularly vibrant colors, with your favorite staple items to add a subtle pop of color. That’s if you are gradually morphing into new style genres. Otherwise rock on boldly with those awesome shoes and most importantly with the attitude of gratitude for all of the blessings, whether material, physical, spiritual, lovely or colorful.
